IMG_0279The new product for 2012 is slowly trickling in. My goal is to feature the highlights of this year’s products in our blog. First, I will revisit what I still believe is one of the top products out today and has been since October, 2011. I have already discussed this unit once before but it’s so good it deserves an encore.
I cannot say enough about Sony’s DSXS310BTX. As far as I am concerned, this is the only receiver anybody will need, for a long time. This is already ahead of most other receivers on the market today. Regardless of what kind of cell phone you have or external digital media device you use, this unit will play them and those to come for the next couple of years at least, and keep you happy.
First, you should know there is no CD player; to that I say so what. Second, in place of the cd player there is a “Tune Tray” that will allow for hidden docking of your iPod, iPhone, iTouch or USB jump drive. The iPod, etc. will be charged and controlled by the unit while docked.
If you are the kind of person that has a crazy sized iPhone cover and cannot dock the phone, you can always connect the phone or other “IOS” device to the front USB port; still charging and controlling from the unit.
The real beauty of this unit is this; Pandora Radio control for Android phone users. Once paired by Bluetooth to the unit, choose the Bluetooth Pandora Source menu and voila; put down your Android and have full control from the Sony unit. You will have full song, artist, album information, thumb up and down, next and search other created stations. As far as I know, this is the only radio out right now that will allow for this much music functionality for both iPhone and Android.
On top of all that, the DSXS310BTX has AM/FM radio, Bluetooth for handsfree calling, Bluetooth audio streaming, a clear, 5 line display, excellent sound quality features and quite honestly, it is very intuitive. This is Sony’s second year running of producing a single din receiver that tops all others. The quality, features and price are beaten by no one.
