C.A.R. Audio & Security uses JL Audio and Wetsounds marine products for all watercrafts. We use them as well as an assortment of other products from Arc Audio and Clarion for Golf Carts, Side by Sides and motorcycles. If you want to light them up, we know what LED packages work best for your specific vehicle and by the way, WE LOVE LIGHTING THEM UP!
C.A.R. Audio & Security loves working on these types of vehicles. They are fun for the customer which makes it fun for us. The owner has been the exclusive installer for a few local boat dealerships for over two decades and has a broad understanding and knowledge of many varieties of watercraft and the unique issues they present. Whether you need to upgrade or update your audio or if you have a boat without any audio, we have solutions and ideas for you. We only use marine quality wiring for these installs and we offer fully waterproof amplifiers and radios for salt use boats. As with any customer, we always take time to ascertain specifically what is desired but with these vehicles there are always a few more questions specific to each individual vehicle and owner.
Things to consider before coming by:
Marine Watercraft
- For any boat we will need to know if it is used in salt or brackish water; even if only once a year and even if removed from the water each time it’s used. We will also need to know if you want to add a subwoofer as part of the audio as well as how many speakers you currently have if any.
- For wakeboarding boats we will need to know:
-
- should the audio be heard 50 feet out for wakeboarding and tubing or are you mostly wake surfing?
- Will you be “cove sitting” and do you want to be the life of the party or just keeping the audio at your boat?
- Do you want the tower speakers volume level separately controlled.
-
- For Center Console boats we will need to know:
-
- Is there already audio in place? If so, how many speakers do you have? If you have speakers and are swapping them out, do you want bigger if there is room for bigger? Do you want to add more speakers in addition the number you have?
- Do you beach your boat and do you want to be the loudest on the beach?
- Are you patient? Seriously, every center console 2020 and newer is so different from others. We can have a 24′ Sea Pro here and it look just like another 24′ Sea Pro but something about the trim level will offer differences as to what size speakers will fit where. So, we will give you a few ideas of estimates so if the 8.8″ speakers don’t fit we are already prepared for bumping you down to 7.7″ speakers, etc. The first hour of a center console install is often like “Goldie Locks and the 3 Bears” trying one size and then another in all the different areas we are installing. This is only if you are upgrading from a 6.5″ to something bigger like a 7.7″ or 8.8″.
-
- Newer Malibu and Axis boats (any others coming out): We get it. We have dipped our toes in these newer audio systems that are from Wetsounds (others may be out there) and we aren’t happy about it either. Wetsounds makes great product but out of a desire and financial need to prevent an overwhelming amount of warranty issues they have gone the way of many auto manufacturers that include Bose, Infinity, B&O and other such brand audio systems. You can’t adjust those automobile amplifiers and never have been able to and newer boats are now including the same amplifier set ups. We have successfully bypassed those amplifiers and their digital harnesses and swapped those amplifiers out with other brand amplifiers to give you better control and sound quality.
Golf Carts and Powersports
- As for golf carts, side by sides and motorcycles, it’s mostly about how loud do you want it to be and how far do you want it to be heard? Some golf cart owners just want a soundbar added and others want a touchscreen radio, 6 speakers, amplifier and LED lights everywhere they can go. Side by Sides are mostly about do you want to hear it clearly while riding or just when you’re stopped and then motorcycles are different depending on is there a fairing or will speakers be in the bags or lower crash bar, etc. For these vehicles, it’s simply best to know what you are expecting and we will create a few estimates around that.
