CES – How Do I Love Thee?

posted in: Blog Post | 1

Let me count the ways because absence makes the heart grow fonder.  This lover hasn’t been to CES since 2007 and I haven’t been to any other major show, SEMA, since 2009.  It is definitely a time when one is in Vegas and can see more inside than out on the strip.

I do miss it.  However, after 2 days of walking on concrete for 6 hours I always seem to feel, “Eh, I’ve seen this before.”  It’s really the tired dogs barking because I do enjoy it.  Most women would enjoy it for an hour and then they would be done, however, this is my livelihood.

I enjoy seeing the new features, the new ideas, the “coming soons”, the “about times”, the “whatsit fors”, the “never sells” and seeing and meeting Chip Foose in person is always a plus.  Side note: He’s a really nice guy.  If you are ever in our Wake Forest store, ask me about it.

Also, where else on this rock can women see men complaining of half-naked models blocking their view of a restyled 2012 Camaro?  Inside CES, “Whips” are more important and that’s always a reassuring thing.  Guys, when your woman complains you spend too much time working on your beat up car, just remark at least you’re not trying to pick up any women.  If she laughs really loud then I have nothing else for you.

CES is this week.  Chris and I chose not to go this year, again.  However, we are eagerly anticipating several meetings with all of our vendors eager to exploit our pockets and display their goods in our store.

Here’s to a New Year, new features and new customers who still haven’t quite found what they are looking for.  You’ll find it here, in another week or two, maybe three; okay, four tops.

P.S.  Two big new features this year: Pandora radio control with your ANDROID phone via Bluetooth Audio and Ford SYNC integration with a certain brand and line of head unit.  (Shhh, it’s a secret.) Oooh, ooh, ohh…and one company that patented shallow subwoofers is releasing a new one that is smaller and less expensive.  Okay, I better stop before I get carried away.  Imagine if I were at CES instead of thinking about it.
